This tool is designed to assist countries in:
- summarizing current data with regard to infant and young child feeding practices,
- assessing the strengths and weaknesses of their policies and programmes to promote, protect and support optimal feeding practices, and
- determining where improvements may be needed to meet the aims and objectives of the Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding.
Provides the tools to answer the question: Are appropriate policies and programmes in place to ensure that mothers, infants and children will be provided adequate protection and support for appropriate feeding during emergencies?
The tool can be used by a local team to undertake a self-assessment. Has a chapter on IFE. Part 3 of the tool includes various areas to include in the assessment, and # 10 is on IYCF in emergencies The entire document is available as one from the WHO here, or in three parts from Linkages here.
