This is a good background document that explains things in simple language and can easily be used to make community friendly material. It contains questions to ask. In 2001 PAHO and WHO wrote Guiding principles for Complementary Feeding of the Breastfed Child, that is the foremost document on complementary feeding principles and should be read along with this document. It is available in this resource library click Feeding infants over 6 months.
Note: this guide says to exclusively breastfeed up to 4 months of age, but longer if possible. The guidelines now clearly state to exclusively breastfeed for 6 months.
