Sets out the 10 guiding principles on feeding of infants and young children during emergencies to prevent excess morbidity and mortality in emergencies. Covers breastfeeding, BMS, complementary feeding, food aid, food security, caring for caregeivers, assessment and evaluation. Looks at how the 10 steps can be used to inform decision makers about key interventions related to optimal IYCF and providing a starting point for more sustained interventions.
The Operational Guidance on IFE assists with the practical application of the guiding principles and contains updates on IFE practice since 2004.
Note: WHO is a member of the IFE Core Group that has developed Modules 1 and 2 on IFE and the Operational Guidance on IFE.
