SUN Civil Society Alliance - Pakistan

By ENN on 6 December 2017

Dr Naseer Muhammad Nizamani is the Country Director for Nutrition International in Pakistan and is also a member of the Pakistan SUN Civil Society Alliance.

In this interview, Dr Nizamani talks about the formation of the CSA in Pakistan and their strong focus on building the capacity of local and national organisations. Dr Nizamani highlights some of the challenges the alliance has faced and how they have overcome them.

He discusses the good relationship that the CSA has built with government – a balance between holding the government accountable and at the same time, supporting the government with implementation at the district and provincial level. For example, the alliance has participated in consultations on the multi-sectoral nutrition strategy and also mobilised members to campaign for more resources for nutrition as part of their ‘Invest in Nutrition’ campaign. He highlights some of the impact this campaigning is already having.

Looking forward, Nizamani aims to build CSA membership, provide capacity building to current members and sensitise donors to invest more in nutrition.
