Millions at Risk: UNGA 80 Must Respond to the Child Wasting Emergency
The Emergency Nutrition Network is proud to stand with over 30 leading global health organizations in a unified call to action at the 80th UN General Assembly.
The joint statement from the Wasting Advocacy Coalition and the Global Nutrition Cluster outlines a stark reality: child wasting is escalating into a full-blown child survival emergency. While progress has been made; from 52M children affected in 2016 to 42.8M in 2024, severe funding cuts and rising conflict threaten to reverse these gains.
This is both a moral and economic imperative. As a technical partner dedicated to knowledge management in nutrition, ENN knows that evidence-based solutions exist. What is needed now is the political will and sustained investment to implement them.
We encourage our network in the humanitarian, development, and public health sectors to read the statement and advocate for the necessary policy and financial changes.
